Requirements Master electrician license applicants must have five years experience and training documented, and pass the master electrician's examination.Residential wiremen must have two years experience. Electrical contractors must be, or employ, a master electrician registered with the State Board.

Plumbing work is regulated at the state level and, in some cases, at the local level.Experience requirements consist of five years for masters, two years or 3,400 hours for residential, and four years or 6,800 hours for journeymen.
