Training Overview

American Contractors Exam Services holds a two-hour Business Law course that guarantees that you will pass the Alabama Business and Law for contractor’s license exam. This is formerly the General Contractor Examination. Please contact us for more information 800-992-1910

Requirements

  • The first step in the licensing process is to gain Pre-Approval from the Board for testing. You will submit an application to the state licensing board with documentation of your experience and financial information.
  • All Commercial Contractors are required by the state to pass this exam in addition to their trade exam in order to obtain a license.
  • All Financial Requirements, Experience Requirements, Bond & Insurance Requirements, Application Fees, and Application Processing Information can be found listed with each trade exam.



Scope of Work

The Alabama Business and Law exam cannot stand-alone; it must be combined with a commercial contractor's license of some type. It is also available for use with State reciprocity.

Reciprocity

Alabama currently has a no reciprocity agreements for this license exam.

This exam is required for reciprocity of similar classifications in Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas.

 You must have held the similar classification of license for 3-years and be in good standing, for this option. Additional qualifications may apply.

Education

Continuing Education requirements, if required, can be obtained by contacting the licensing board.

Exam

The exam is administered by PSI an d costs $96.00 

This is an open-book, multiple choice, timed test. A score of 70% is required t pass.

The Business Law exam may be taken as many times as required in a 12-month period.

Subjects include:Licensing, Estimating and Bidding, Liens, Financial, Payroll & Taxes, Personnel & Labor, Project Management, Contracts, Business Organization, Safety, Record keeping and Environmental Risk Management
