Required Books 

The examination is administered as an open-book exam. Use of the National Electrical Code book is allowed during the examination. A Code book will be provided for you to use.

Applicants can not use their own book. Calculators are permitted only if they are silent, hand-held, battery-operated, nonprinting, and without an alphabetic keypad.

No other books or devices are allowed during the exam.

Electrical Contractor applications must present evidence that they have complied with the compensation law and unemployment compensation.  You must complete the Acknowledgementr of Responsibility form, along with the completed application and appropriate fees.

Reciprocity: Colorado has entered into reciprocal licensing agreements with the following states: Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming for journeyman electrical licenses only.

Examination Information/Requirements:

Exam fees are $75.00 for exam and $70.00 for re-test

This is a 90 question, multiple-choice exam with a 4-hr time limit.  70% is required to pass.

Major content areas of the exam are: Raceways, conductors and cable assemblies, services (600 volts and below), feeders and branch circuits, motors, equipment use within occupancies and calculations and computations.

Exam questions are based on the 2011 NEC.
