Additional Services

The license application and renewal fee is $35. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. The wait time is typically no more than 2-3 weeks.

The term of the license is one year.

Texas has a reciprocal agreement with some other states based on the license classfication. Check with the State Licensing Board for verification.

The Texas Department of Licensing requires completion of 4 hours of approved continuing education during the term of the current license.

The required hours must cover the National Electrical Code and Texas state electrician laws and rules.

For late renewal, the continuing education courses must have been completed within the 1 year period immediately prior to the date of renewal.

Topics covered on the exam are GFCI Protection and Equipment Grounding and Bonding, Definitions, Calculations, Theory and Plans, Electrical Feeders, Branch Circuits, Calculations and Conductors, Electrical Wiring Methods, and Electrical Materials, Electrical Equipment and Devices, Motors, Electrical Control Devices, Disconnecting Means, and Swimming Pool, Spas and Fountain Equipment
