Every state licensing board defines the exact project types, sizes, and trades that fall under each contractor classification. Review the scope below to make sure this license matches the work you actually do — then enroll in the seminar that prepares you for that exam the first time.

The holder of this license may perform the installing, servicing and repairing of any gas or oil fired burners. The requirements to qualify for this license examination shall be two (2) years as a properly licensed journeyperson or equivalent experience and training.

License Requirements

To qualify for this license examination shall be two (2) years as a properly licensed journeyperson or equivalent experience and training.

Applicants must submit an application to PSI for pre-approval before testing.

The Business Law exam is also required.

All heating, cooling & sheet metal work licenses expire yearly on August 31.

The Exam

The exam is administered by PSI.

It is 40 questions, multiple choice, open-book with a 1 1/2 hour time limit. 70% is required to pass.

The Business Law exam is also required.
