Confirm This Is the Right License for Your Work

Every state licensing board defines the exact project types, sizes, and trades that fall under each contractor classification. Review the scope below to make sure this license matches the work you actually do — then enroll in the seminar that prepares you for that exam the first time.

This license allows for work under the supervision and in the employ of a Natural Gas Contractor in the installation, repair, alteration, or extension of gas piping and gas mains. It includes all natural gas piping within or adjacent to any building, structure, or conveyance, on the premises and to the connection with a natural gas meter, regulator or other supply source.

License Requirements

The first step in the licensing process is to submit a completed application to the state licensing board to obtain approval to test.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and verify at least 3 years of experience.

Reciprocity

The state of Oklahoma does not have any reciprocity agreements for this license

Continuing Education

Oklahoma requires that 6 hours of approved CE must be completed every 36 months (3 years). A licensee is exempt from these requirements for 3 years from the date he or she initially passes the current licensing exam. As of July 1, 2014, no contractor or journeyman license shall be renewed unless 6 hours of Continuing Education, within the last 36 months (3 years), have been completed. Thereafter, 6 hours of CE must be completed every 3 years (36 months).

The Exam

The exam is given by PSI. It is an open-book, timed test with 30 questions and a 1.5-hour time limit. A score of at least 70% is required to pass the exam. The test fee is $100.

We carry all of the books that are needed for this exam however; we currently do not offer a seminar to prepare for this exam.

Fees must accompany the application. The licensing fee is $75. ($50 for License & $25 for processing)

Applications are reviewed once per week. Wait time for approval should be minimal.
