Required Books
We carry many of the approved reference materials for the Hawaii Acoustical and Insulation License examination and the Business Law examination. The exam is closed book however being familiar with the approved references will greatly increase an applicants chances.
In addition to the books listed there are others that can be used to study that are out of print or not available from the publilsher.

To install acoustic tile systems, spray systems, and insulation in buildings and structures for the purpose of sound control. These systems or materials may be installed independently of or in conjunction with acoustic tile and/or drywall systems as multipurpose (acoustic, insulation, fire retardant) systems.
License Requirements
Pre approval is required to sit for the exam
The Business Law exam is required
Applicants must have 4 years of supervisory experience within the last 10 years
Applicants must pay a fee to the Contractors Recovery Fund
Applicants must document a credit report covering the pervious 5 years, a current financial statement prepared by a CPA, a current state tax clearance for the Dept of Taxation, and prior to licensure applicants must show workers compensation and liability insurance.
Reciprocity
Hawaii does not have reciprocity agreements with any other states.
Continuing Education
Currently, Hawaii does not require Continuing Education for its contractors
The Exam
The Acoustical and Insulation exam is 25 questions and closed book. There is a 1 hour time limit and a 75% is required to pass.
Subject areas include Residential Installation, Insulation Materials, Commercial Installations, Sound Control, Estimating and Planning and Safety.

American Contractors does not offer a seminar to prepare for the Hawaii Acoustical and Insulation license. We do carry many references and tools to help assist in preparation for the exam.
